What is bitcoin? 
  Bitcoin is an online currency also referred to as cryptocurrency. It is a new payment system and it is a digital money. Bitcoin is a virtual money we spend online and convert it to real cash in any currency be it Dollars, Pounds, or Euros among others.

Bitcoin was created in 2009 by Satoshi Nakamoto. Nobody owns the bitcoin network just like no one owns the technology behind email. Bitcoin is controlled by we the bitcoin users all around the world.

You might want to ask the question "is bitcoin really used by people?" . The answer is yes. There is a growing number of people and businesses using bitcoin every day. This included the restaurant, law firms, popular online service and so much more. For your information, the value of bitcoin as at the end of September 2013 was $1.5 billion with millions of dollars worth of bitcoin exchange daily.
